And since we were miners’ wives, there was no time to sit idly. We had to work both on the farm and in the garden, and to have something going on in the village we also created a housewives’ group. Last year, it celebrated its 50th anniversary. I’m the group leader, we still meet regularly and we’re still active, even though there aren’t that many of us anymore. We traveled to various events, festivals, harvest fairs, wherever we were invited. We also participate in church celebrations such as Corpus Christi and parish fairs. The band Przegędzanki was formed within the group. We won prizes, gifts, awards. When the day of the housewives’ group meeting came, we all sat down and talked. After all, what else we were supposed to do here? We had to do things at home and go to work. That's how life in the countryside was, it went by in a flash.
